This Week
Has been a bit of a none event really. I mean we are talking work and all the usual things, (fretting about my taxes, paying bills, doing chores, ain't life grand) plus major amounts of rain. Nothing particularly noteworthy. Well beside the rain, it was pretty impressive and unusual for this time of year.
I have been making another attempt at post war fiction, I'm reading 'V' by Thomas Pynchon, who you have to admit you don't get a whole more post war than.
I kind of got sucked in because the first few pages read like a Tom Waits song, but it doesn't last and I must admit that I am not really enjoying it. Still I will probably finish it because I don't like to leave books unread. I tend to kid myself that I will eventually finish the ones I abandon, some day...
I am also working my way through 'The Magic mountain' by Thomas Mann. Very much pre-war and more my style. I seem to have got it a habit of reading lots of things at the same time.
I think it is that attention span thing again,
Now where was I?
