Joe Strummer

Just heard of his death 23 Dec 2002. So I am listening to Combat Rock, the only Clash album I have, finally having had to throw away the copy of London's Calling that Penny Salt taped for me some time in the 80s, and reading the tributes on Pop Matters and the Beeb.

Although I wasn't a huge fan, his death makes me feel kind of sad. And it seems significant : the death of an ideal of cool, another reminder that the 20th century has passed.

RIP, Joe.
